      Hey hey yes the planner works on the BOOX - we are doing major updates for 2025 - I think the BOOX will work with you as you seem to have the organization for it and the patience for set up. It is a great device, with some limitations just because it is trying to do a lot. I have not had experience with PARA PKM and will ask some of the community here. But with Android, it does open up more possibilities. It is a great device, just some bugginess if that makes sense, and if bugginess is a word. LOL

    I am using a remarkable 2 since last December. I tried the supernote A6x2 and a few Boox. The remarkable is the best for me, because I need to focus and I am a writer. It has a great keyboard and I can handwrite or proofread on it. I am using it for my schedule as well. This has been a life saver for me, writing more than ever before and being more relaxed during my day, avoid social networks. I even bought a refurb iPod classic. The best combo.

    Great seeing regular videos! I constantly think about writing but I never do it. Using a device like this would remind me of the old days and I like that idea. Can you elaborate on the advantages of the iPad? Said this way, is there any reason to not use the iPad? I just don’t see the advantage of the freewrite.

    • @morningcoach
      @morningcoach 6 днів тому

      I just use the program Ulysses to organize my writing and it just works really well on the computer and the iPad actually like writing on the iPad I think the only advantage of the free right for me would be just a distraction free device that you could take to the library or out to the park and get some writing done, but obviously you could do the same thing with the iPad. That’s just me though. The other thing would be the keyboard, but you can actually hook a Bluetooth keyboard up to the iPad too, and I guess the last thing would be the ink screen maybe but for me, I use my iPad 90% of the time computer probably 8% of the time and maybe this freewrite 2% - sorry I was using my voice comment here at the grammar off a little bit

    • @TNValleyVideos
      @TNValleyVideos 6 днів тому

    • @doktorfaustus
      @doktorfaustus 5 днів тому

      @@TNValleyVideos A few people would notice if it went away; while I'm sure some would care, they'd get over it. Here is what I would list as a short summary of the advantages of one device over the other: iPad: - The options for writing software you take with you (e.g. Ulysses) are much, much more powerful. - An iPad + keyboard cover is more slim, compact, and portable (at least when compared to this particular Freewrite-note that FW has other models). - the iPad does other things too. Freewrite: - It has a nice, mechanical keyboard. If you are familiar with Cherry keyswitches, then you know what a pleasant typing experience they can convey. - It has an eInk screen. For persons who stare at glowing, backlit monitors all day (that's most of us now) eInk can be quite restful for the eyes. - The Freewrite does nothing else. Yes, I am aware of the irony that the opposite was a pro of the iPad, but some people perceive a 'distraction-free', dedicated tool for writing as a boon. My overall take: The Freewrite Hemingway Edition is a quirky toy for hipsters with money to burn.

      Hey hey thanks for asking. So here is the deal I am going to do a great video. It is a "cool" device. But for me I don't like the lag. There is a little lag when you type. It is just enough to be annoying. I think you can get used to it, but because I have so many devices I don't use it as much. Also I am very visual and not a great typer ie - make mistakes so it slows me down not having a larger screen to edit. These are MY issues, not the devices, but the lag, and small screen just make it hard for me to use, so it is in the case mostly. Will do a video... thanks for the idea. This weekend will go over those points.

    JB, Thanks for all the great points. I have an old IPAD as well -- you briefly mention Samsung tab? ultra and show it. Why do you choose the IPAD pro over the Samsung -- I am thinking of buying something large -- and TAB X replacement would be my first choice I think but I am interested in the Samsung or IPAD instead -- (leaning toward SAMSUNG because I have their computer). Also -- if BOOX fixes the problem -- would you move from Remarkable 2 to Tab X?

    • @morningcoach
      @morningcoach 9 днів тому

      Harry - no I wouldn't move to the Tab X - I used to use it - just find the remarkable 2 works great, now if I didn't have the rM2 NO issues with the Tab X would use it daily - great device. I am just using my rM2 as a PLANNER only like old school steven covey if that makes sense. As far as the Samsung vs Ipad - the Samsung is amazing but I HATE I mean hate the keyboard. You can't lap it - like set it on your lap. The screen is amazing, the device is amazing keyboard sucks (I know I could buy another third party but even then) The iPad just works for me, I am in the Apple world daily so that is why I go to it, but as an overall tablet I couldn't steer your wrong with the Samsung, UNLESS you are in the IOS world. Things just work great together. If this helps.... The TAB X is a really great device. It is a little heavy as a daily reader, but for everything else great. For Content etc... the Samsung you can't go wrong. I am going to be using the iPad more as a computer but I haven't yet. I think you are going the right direction, please hit me up with questions, I probably should do a video on all of this - thanks!

    I have the more affordable and slimmer Freewrite Alpha and I love it! The first month I got 20k words on the device alone, not even counting my handwritten and typewritten stuff. It's a modern digital typewriter. It has backup to the cloud via postbox, google drive/dropbox/evernote, and an email button right on it. I love my Royal Quiet De Luxe manual typewriter, but having this created an entirely new workflow for me, and I can finally see myself finishing up some drafts and getting to the revision process! I can see myself eventually investing in the more typewriter-style hardware like this one, but that's a luxury purchase for another day. I think I'll get some stories and novels published before I do that! lol

    Your video around the clunky nature of Onyx and the copy and paste kind of saved my sanity. I accidentally found out how to copy and paste (no user should ever type that). It was so clunky that habit tracking only lasted for a few days. I would have stopped using my Note 3 if it wasn't for their split screen capability. I would but your planner in split screen and copy and paste that way or write things over and over. Here is the problem, the average user, this late in the tech game, won't be okay with an extra 3 to 5 clicks to do something that can be done in one or two. You are anything but clueless. Keep doing what you do. If they actually improve that functionality...smile as you had something to do with it. Lol.

    Many people who do not work with mission-critical systems are unaware of the concept of validation. When a new product or piece of software is introduced, it may be tempting to grasp for the "shiny, new thing." Often the old thing needs to stick around for a while, because it works in a consistent and predictable manner. It can take a long time to validate that a new system will fill its intended role as well as the system it is replacing if there are high stakes riding on its output.

      Great points. I see this all the time in terms of productivity. People switch from system to system, never giving the "old" to work. Always chasing, always trying to find the "perfect" system. As we know, that is almost impossible. Thanks for the comment - great one!

    I use a BOOX device and I love it. However, the Remarkable would have worked for me as well, I can only afford one device. I went with the BOOX because I wanted access to the Kindle App on rare occasions ( design manual). The person who sold me the BOOX device warned me it has a learning curve. The manual was so-so, you tube was great. I had to work at it. My friend who has the Remarkable didn’t have the same learning curve. When my BOOX retires one day, I am sure I will have the same dilemma as all the devices have pluses and minuses. That said, I still use my iPad a lot so maybe I don’t need access to the Kindle App. The truth is that I dove into the e-book pond and I am glad I did.

      That’s a great question. I think it is going directly to ChatGPT I don’t think so but I have a lot of people asking these questions so I’m gonna try to interview the owner of the company and see if I can get some answers. I really liked the device I don’t worry too much about that because it’s mostly my tasks and stuff, but I get it! Thanks for asking

    100% agree, Boox’s cut and paste implementation in Neo reader and other apps is weak at best and sometimes not available. In notes it is great! Well done for calling out, the poor and annoying part of the comment. Sad really as there was also some good stuff in the description….

    Some people take criticism of their favourite device as criticism of themself. What I took from your previous video was that failing to design an intuitive software interface places a big obstacle in the way of the user, regardless of the hardware capability of the device. Yes, you can explain this away. You can describe the steep learning curve. You can describe the overall wider range of features. But for some people, especially those being asked to transfer from Apple or RM2, the destination is then not worth the journey.

    JB, really appreciate this video. I think as a society we have unfortunately become to comfortable with criticizing others instead of just having a conversation. Personal attacks have no place in my view. Well said. Thanks, Ed.

      Thanks, Ed-yes, just a kinder approach! I've been mentioning your channel as your channel name instead of Ed. FYI, keep going and watch your Supernote videos. I have to get back to mine. I love their roadmaps and customer service, but I don't use it much. It's a great device and company, though. Thanks for the comment and great videos-just click Ed's avatar, and you can get to Ed's channel for those of you reading this.

    The way to move forward is by listening opinions that are different to our own, assess what's true, update our knowledge base and if something is actually wrong, call it out, but do not attack the person, you just have to go after the facts and provide good information so we can all learn and grow together. That's it! Keep doing what you love and listening to people that actually are open to dialogue, you are doing great! You are the reason I get into the e-ink notebooks and I love just learning about all the different options out there for every person's likes 😁

      That is a 100000% great comment. I would rather have great dialogue than personal attacks. It just really isn't fun. I make a ton of mistakes and am open to discussion. That is what I love, but lately, for some reason, it hasn't been like that. Thanks for the great comment!

      @@rodolfomontes7717 this is the key, tech is merely a tool. It’s important to use the right tool for the right job, but sometimes it dies (RIP Windows Mobile). There isn’t any piece of tech out there that is perfect. What JB found would put me off the Boox at the moment, but other people are different.
